Cost optimisation with OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certification

29.08.24

Dyers, finishers, and manufacturers can save on testing costs by using OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified chemicals.

In this case, the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 testing programme can be minimised, allowing the manufacturer to save on testing costs significantly. It is particularly beneficial for wet processes and printing, as these require more intensive testing and have a higher failure rate.

Let's delve into the advantages in detail:

  • OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified textile and leather chemicals are ZDHC MRSL 3.1 conform. During the ECO PASSPORT RSL and MRSL screening process, we verify that the declared product components are not listed on the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Restricted Substance List (RSL), the OEKO-TEX® STeP Manufacturing Restricted Substance List (MRSL), or the SVHC candidate list of REACH (Substances of Very High Concern). This allows us to waive certain chemical tests and reduce testing frequency during OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification.
  • Using OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified chemicals significantly increases textile product quality and the likelihood of passing OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 chemical testing.
  • Production sites of OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified chemicals are assessed for good product stewardship, which includes safe working conditions and effective chemical and environmental management. The use of OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified chemicals is included in the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certificate scope to demonstrate due diligence in chemical use during textile production.
  • The OEKO-TEX® Buying Guide offers manufacturers an international and highly frequented platform to find suppliers with STANDARD 100 and ECO PASSPORT-certified products.
